Our retreat takes place at the beautiful Bosworth Hall Hotel & Spa, a historic 17th-century country mansion surrounded by peaceful gardens and parkland.

The hotel offers a relaxing atmosphere with spacious grounds, a health club and spa facilities, making it a perfect location for a dance weekend focused on learning, inspiration and connection.

Participants can choose between two options offered by the hotel:

Sharing a room with another participant is usually the most economical option, and many dancers choose to share.

If you are travelling alone but would like to share a room, you may find a roommate in the event WhatsApp group.

Bosworth Hall Hotel & Spa is located near Market Bosworth and is easily accessible by car.

The venue is approximately:

The Belly Dance Competition is one of the highlights of our Spa Retreat weekend.

It is a beautiful opportunity for dancers to step on stage, challenge themselves, share their passion and celebrate their growth as performers.

Whether you are a student taking your first competition steps or an experienced dancer looking for inspiration, this competition is designed to support your artistic journey in a friendly and encouraging environment.

Our goal is not only to award winners, but to create a space where dancers can shine, learn and connect with others who share the same love for Raqs Sharqi (Belly dance).

The competition takes place during the retreat weekend and the finalists will perform on stage during our Gala Show on Saturday.

We welcome dancers from across the UK and beyond to join this celebration of dance, artistry and dedication.

IMPORTANT! The final list of categories will depend on the number of registrations.
If a category receives insufficient registrations it may be merged with another category or cancelled.

Who Can Participate

This competition is open to:

• Belly dance students
• Professional dancers
• Teachers presenting their choreography or their students
• Dancers who simply wish to challenge themselves and perform

Participants must perform a choreography related to Belly Dance.

Judging

Participants will be evaluated by an experienced panel of judges based on:

• Technique
• Musicality
• Choreography
• Stage presence
• Overall artistic impression

The jury’s decision is final.

Competition Entry Fees

The competition is divided into two stages:

1. Online Qualification Round
All participants start with a video submission.
This stage allows the judges to fairly evaluate all dancers and select finalists.

Selected finalists will be invited to perform live on stage during the Gala Show.

An additional fee applies for finalists, as performances will be judged again live and detailed feedback will be provided.

Final round fee:
• £20 – for Full Event Package holders (additional £10 to pay)
• £40 – for external participants (additional £20 to pay)

 All participants receive:
• Scores from each judge
• Personalised feedback to improve their dance
• Opportunity to perform on stage

Open Stage Opportunity

The Open Stage is a space for dancers who would like to perform, share their work and enjoy the stage without the pressure of competition.

It is perfect for those who are not ready to compete but still want to present what they have been working on and gain valuable stage experience.

Both solo dancers and small groups are welcome.

The Belly Dance Diva category creates a supportive and inspiring space where dancers can perform, share their passion and enjoy the stage.

Participants submit a video performance of their choreography.

Up to 20 dancers may enter the qualification round.

The top finalists will be selected to perform live at the festival.

Drum Solo – Rhythm Queen Category

This category celebrates musicality, precision and connection with the rhythm.

It is open to belly dancers who want to showcase their ability to interpret drum accents, rhythm changes and dynamic musical moments.

Participants will perform a drum solo choreography highlighting strong technique, musical interpretation and stage presence.

Format

The competition will take place in two stages.

1. Online Qualification Round
Participants submit a video of their drum solo choreography.

Up to 20 dancers may enter the qualification round.
The top 6–7 dancers will be selected to perform in the final.

2. Live Final at the Spa Retreat Gala Show
Finalists will perform live on stage during the Saturday Gala Show at the Belly Dance Spa Retreat.

Live Drum Solo Final with Saiidi Beats

The Drum Solo final will be performed with live percussion by Saiidi Beats, an Egyptian-style drumming group based in Nottingham.

For the final round, the musicians will prepare three different drum solo compositions. These tracks will be shared with the selected finalists in advance so they can familiarise themselves with the rhythms and prepare their choreography.

However, the dancers will not know which composition they will perform to until the moment they step on stage. One of the three tracks will be selected randomly for the final performance.

This format keeps the excitement and spontaneity of dancing with live musicians while allowing dancers time to prepare and connect with the music.

Performing with live drummers creates a powerful artistic dialogue between dancer and musician and is often one of the most memorable highlights of the entire festival.

Key Rules

• Maximum performance time: up to 4 min. for semi- finals and 2 min. for finals with Saiidi Beats
• No props allowed
• The choreography must include multiple rhythm changes (minimum three different rhythms)
• The performance should demonstrate clear musical interpretation of drum accents

Who Can Participate

This category is open level and welcomes:

• belly dance students
• semi-professional dancers
• professional dancers

All dancers who love drum solos and rhythm interpretation are encouraged to participate.

This category celebrates the rich traditions of Middle Eastern folklore dance.

Participants are invited to present a choreography inspired by traditional dances from the region. Egyptian folklore styles are especially welcome, but other authentic regional styles are also accepted.

Examples may include Egyptian folklore, Khaleegy, Turkish folklore dances or Iraqi traditional dance styles.

We begin the weekend with a special evening where the energy of the retreat truly comes alive.

Our Open Stage gives dancers the opportunity to perform in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

Saturday — Workshops, Competition Finals & Gala Night

Saturday is dedicated to your dance journey.

We begin with a gentle stretching session, followed by a full day of inspiring workshops designed to develop your technique, expression and confidence.

In the evening, we continue with the second part of the Competition Finals, featuring the 3 remaining categories (6 in total across both days).

After the finals, we move into our Gala Show, where our teachers, judges and special guest performers will take the stage.

To finish the night, we invite everyone to a free dance party where you can relax, celebrate and enjoy the atmosphere together.

Sunday — Workshops & Closing Circle

Sunday continues with more workshops, allowing you to deepen your practice and integrate everything you’ve learned.

We finish the weekend with our Closing Q&A & Discussion Circle — a warm and open space to connect with the teachers, ask questions and reflect on your experience.

Breaks, Food & Facilities

There will be scheduled breaks throughout the day, including a lunch break and time to rest before the evening events.

• You can enjoy meals at the hotel or visit nearby cafés and restaurants
• Water will be available throughout the venue (in workshop rooms and in the foyer)

In the evenings, the event bar will be open, and the hotel lobby bar is also available for drinks and light meals.

The retreat is designed to give you time not only to train, but also to relax.

You can enjoy the spa facilities by arriving earlier on Friday, during breaks, or by staying an extra night (Sunday or even Monday, as many participants choose to do).

Day visitors will have access to a basic changing area at the venue.
